How do I join SLY Theatre?
We hold open auditions twice a year but may have space during this time so please contact us for details.

Do I have to audition? Yes, but we do not ask people to prepare an audition speech, or to come along and entertain us. The auditions take place in the form of a workshop and we'll be assessing people's abilities to work and co-operate with others. Please email us for audition dates.

How old must I be to join?
13 years +

How much does it cost?
£65 per production. Each fee payable in advance and is non refundable.

What will I learn?
SLY Theatre work on a production to production basis and what you learn very much depends on the show that is in rehearsal. We aim to cover a variety of techniques for rehearsal and performance and each session will have an element of workshop work that feeds into the current production rehearsal schedule.

Do I need previous experience?
Previous experience is not necessarily essential for people wishing to try out for the Company, as the emphasis is not on what you know, but what you are prepared to learn and it has already proved a winning formula over the past few years.

What if I don't want to act?
There are limited opportunities for stage management, lighting, sound, backstage experience and front of house. However, we do encourage an ensemble approach to productions and would expect all members to be involved in the workshops leading to a performance.

Where has SLY Theatre performed?
SLY Theatre have performed at a range of venues dependant on touring opportunities. For example: Bradfield Amphitheatre, The Corn Exchange, Loughborough University, New Greenham Arts Centre. We have attended The New York International Fringe Festival. We have also toured local churches as well as schools, universities and Arts Centres throughout the
UK.
